Chapter 22

Su Nuo was playing the piano in the lounge when his phone rang. 

Lin Xiatian sighed that he was still stuck on the road and starving, and asked Su Nuo to wait for him at a restaurant near Kerry.

Across from the company was a large shopping mall. Su Nuo found a restaurant with a better environment and sent the location to Lin Xiatian. He sat down in a corner by the window surrounded by potted plants.

Since it was already past lunchtime, there weren't many people in the restaurant. Su Nuo told the waiter that he was waiting for someone and flipped through the menu casually.

"Excuse me...are you Su Nuo?" an uncertain female voice came from the left.

Su Nuo lifted his head from under the brim of his hat and saw several girls sitting at the table, who had been stopped by his assistant.

"Ah -" It was really him!

The girls couldn't help but cry out in surprise, then quickly covered their mouths. The waiter looked over suspiciously, but seeing that it was just a few girls, didn't pay much attention.

Su Nuo nodded at his assistant, who put down his arm and the girls immediately gathered around.

"Su Nuo, Su Nuo! We didn't expect it to be you!"

"Nuo Nuo! Can you give us an autograph? We really like you!"

Although these girls were strangers, their liking was aimless, pure, and simple, and it didn't make people feel uncomfortable.

He smiled and patiently took the notebook, signing his name one by one with a pen, and asked for each name he signed if he could add a few words of blessing.

"Okay, who is this for?"

Don't worry, our team has grown a lot now. If something like this happens again, we'll crowdfund to buy hot search results! We absolutely won't let you be wronged again!"

Su Nuo was amused and said, "Okay, I'm not afraid."

The girls then repeatedly urged him to take good care of himself, rest well, and not work too hard, saying a lot of things earnestly.

Su Nuo could only nod and agree.

This was the first time he felt like a celebrity, being liked by so many adorable fans, and receiving their approval was such a happy thing.

Lin Xiatian came running in late with sweat on his forehead, thinking to apologize, but he found that Su Nuo's mood seemed good.

"Hey? What good news makes you so happy?" 

Su Nuo poured a glass of water and handed it to him, smiling as he replied, "I met some interesting fans. You finally came. Quickly order something, I'm so hungry."

Lin Xiatian hadn't even eaten breakfast, and he was starving. He quickly took the menu and ordered several dishes. The restaurant was empty except for their table, and the food was served quickly. They didn't chat much and just focused on eating. 

After eating and drinking their fill, Su Nuo held a cup of milk tea and asked, "You said you had some good news to tell me on the phone. What's the mystery?"

Lin Xiatian took a big sip of fresh orange juice, and the sourness made him grin. "I'm joining Kerry Entertainment! I'll be in the same company as you again. Haha, are you happy? Isn't it a super surprise?"

Su Nuo was truly surprised. "Really?"

"Of course it's true! I've been wanting to leave that company for a long time. Since you left, I wanted to follow you. I just finished dealing with some messy stuff two days ago, and I came to see you today and sign the contract at the same time."

Su Nuo shook his head. "The company won't let you go so easily. Where did you get the money to pay the breach of contract fee?"

"...", Lin Xiatian sighed. "Can't you at least show a little bit of happiness before asking me other things? I don't feel any sense of achievement with you like this."

"My dad is from the Lin family in the capital. When he was young, he had an affair and had a child with someone. His former wife died in a car accident a few years ago, leaving only a son. The mistress took advantage of the situation and became the new wife, and the illegitimate child was brought back to the family and recognized as a legitimate son. He went from being a poor boy to a rich second-generation... That mistress is my biological mother. Su Nuo listened to him with a serious expression, and Lin Xiatian's slightly emotional mood disappeared instantly, and he smiled. 

"Don't be so serious. I said all that just to tell you that I have the money to pay the breach of contract fee. My mother can't ignore the fact that I'm her son, right? Besides, I've saved a lot of money these past two years."

Su Nuo thought for a moment. "If you ask your mother for money, why would she let you enter the entertainment industry again? Tell me the truth. What's really going on?"

"It's true! I'm not lying to you. It's been so long, and the situation has been settled long ago. Even if I go back now, it won't make any difference. My mother has given up."

Lin Xiatian saw that he didn't believe him, so he had to raise his hand like taking an oath and say, "Really, really, I swear to God."

Su Nuo's expression relaxed a little. Lin Xiatian was someone he had recognized as a friend, and he couldn't just sit back and watch him suffer losses, even if it had nothing to do with him.

He was just a tool for her to enter the Lin family, and by cutting off his financial resources, she didn't even bother to see him now.

When Su Nuo got into trouble, he begged his parents, only to be sarcastically rebuked and sent back coldly. He had no choice but to lower his voice and plead with his older brother, hoping he could help him out of gratitude for his previously obedient behavior.

Su Nuo couldn't know any of this. All of this was done voluntarily by Lin Xiatian, but if he were to tell Su Nuo, it would definitely burden him. Su Nuo had only just accepted him, and he would never tell him about these things.

Taking advantage of Su Nuo not asking any further, he quickly changed the subject, "What about you? Last time we talked on the phone, you said you hadn't signed yet. Have you already signed today?"

Su Nuo thought for a moment, staring at Lin Xiatian with wide eyes, and answered slowly, "I... don't think so."

Su Nuo was also confused. This was done by Gu Chen, and Su Nuo hadn't woken up yet when everything was already resolved. Although his brother had opened a studio for him in Kerry, and his agent was also from the company, he had never signed a contract. So, was he considered signed or not?

He looked up at the ceiling and thought for a long time, then nodded seriously, "No."

As Lin Xiatian saw him playing with his fingers, his mouth almost stretched to his eyes. He realized that Su Nuo, who appeared to be a cold and aloof iceberg, was actually a cute and silly person at heart.

Lin Xiatian laughed dumbly for a while before realizing that Su Nuo said he hadn't signed. 

"Ah? What do you mean by not signing?"
